João José is a PhD student at the Centre for Research and Agro-Environmental and Biological Technologies (CITAB) of the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro. His background is biology and sports, and his research is related to ecosystem services, integrated in the project entitled “Assessment of cultural ecosystem services: A framework for collaborative management reflecting environmentally responsible practices within the SCUBA Diving activities”.

He is a recreational and scientific diving instructor, Director of Research and Science of the Portuguese Federation of Underwater Activities and member of the Board of CMAS Europe.
