Gabriel Barros is professor and researcher at the Universidade Salvador (UNIFACS), and a postdoc at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), both in Brazil. He is a biologist, with Master and PhD in Ecology, having large experience in Marine and Coastal Ecology, with particular interest in estuarine ecosystems and fishing communities.
His research is focused on ecosystem-based approaches to marine fisheries management, integrating biophysical models and Local Ecological Knowledge (LEK). He has also guided research on ecosystem services and their relationship to the urbanization of coastal areas. In general, he works in interdisciplinary studies, trying to contribute to the bridge between science and environmental management.
